On Friday 9 June nominations closed for the North East Apprenticeship Awards. There are 14 categories within the awards, which are open to employers and apprentices from across the region.

Last year we recruited our current intake of apprentices as part of our commitment to support the development of skills, whilst attracting talent and enabling growth.

We are immensely proud of Business Administration Apprentice Amy Holt, who has been nominated and shortlisted in the Higher Apprentices of the Year category.

Amy joined Senstronics in January this year and has approached the apprenticeship opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and courage. Amy joined the Supply Chain Team – where she is supported by Senior Sales Administrator, Elaine Goodchild as her supervisor – and has established herself as a valuable member of the team. Amy has taken advantage of the skills and experiences gained prior to starting an apprenticeship (including those developed when running her own business!), whilst embracing a new role and the specific responsibilities attached to it.

The awards will be presented to the winning nominees at a ceremony at Newcastle Football Club this month, with the event being established as an occasion to congratulate all the employers and apprentices who have been shortlisted.

We will proudly be cheering for Amy, before and after the event, and will continue to recognise the contribution being made to the business on a daily basis.

Bringing Amy into the team has enabled us to establish the foundations for a solid administrative resource, whilst giving us access to innovative and fresh thinking”.

Amy said “it’s great to be recognised for my hard work, and to be in the running for an award. I made the decision to pursue an apprenticeship after experiencing different kinds of employment because I like the balance of working and learning at the same time.”

We will continue to provide apprenticeship opportunities to develop a pipeline of talent and to future-proof our workforce, enriched by academic learning programmes. We hope that Amy, and all of our apprentices, will continue to flourish in their roles and that they use their own experiences to contribute to the legacy of apprenticeships at Senstronics.
