This month we have proudly supported Mental Health Awareness Week (15 – 21 May 2023) and we have acknowledged this year’s theme – anxiety – as something that can impact the workforce. We understand that many of us will feel anxious at some point in our lives, and for some of us it can be a regular occurrence. Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety and it is one of the most common mental health problems that we can experience.

As an employer we pledge our support for the workforce, and we aim to raise awareness of the challenges associated with managing anxiety.

Andy Reed, Managing Director, said “At some point most of us, including myself, will deal with feelings of anxiety. It is one of the most common mental health problems we can face. Anxiety is a normal human response to the uncertain world around us, but it can sometimes get out of control and become a mental health problem. Raising awareness of the topic and providing support to colleagues who may be having difficulties dealing with anxiety is very important to me.

As an employer, I want to ensure that Senstronics is supporting colleagues to recognise the feelings of anxiety and to provide tools and resources to avoid anxiety becoming overwhelming”.

During Mental Health Awareness Week we have promoted the support available through the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and through the Mental Health First Aider network, which has had a positive impact on a number of employees:

“I wouldn’t have known where to go to for support about anxiety, it’s not something that I talk about with my mates. From the information shared during Mental Health Awareness Week I have reached out for support and now I have a better understanding of ways to help manage anxiety” – Employee

“I’m really worried about pressure outside of work and I had forgotten about the Employee Assistance Programme. The reminder in Mental Health Awareness Week has prompted me to use the EAP and I have some face-to-face counselling sessions set up. I’m grateful that I have an employer who recognises mental health issues and provides support for when I need it” – Employee
