Wednesday 8 March 2023 is International Women’s Day (IWD). IWD is a global initiative established to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women achieved by breaking down barriers that exist in gender equality, as well as looking ahead at future challenges. Whilst there has been huge progress in enabling women to work towards achieving equality in relation to their male counterparts – across all aspects of their lives – there is still work to be done to achieve gender parity.

At Senstronics, on IWD, we celebrated being an employer that embraces equality and supports gender parity in a number of ways:

  • We have a diverse workforce. 42% of our employees are female and 22% of the Senior Leadership Team is represented by females.
  • We actively challenge gender stereotyping in the workplace and we undertake positive action in our recruitment practice to address under-representation.
  • We are developing our pipeline of talent and we have apprenticeships being delivered for male and female learners in the workplace.
  • We explore ways in which we can champion equity and we align our policies and procedures to incorporate equitable practices in what we do.
  • We have an established pay structure that is aligned to specific roles, not specific people.
  • We are actively promoting health and wellbeing and introducing specific initiatives, including gender specific health issues such as menopause awareness.

Andy Reed, Managing Director, said “we’re proud of our workforce at Senstronics – regardless of gender – and we’re proud of the way in which we can pledge our support to initiatives like International Women’s Day, as an opportunity to reflect and to promote the positive things we do”.
